Terms of Service

Last updated: 4 July 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Motolog application and website operated by Satrujit Behera. By using Motolog, you agree to these Terms.

1. The service

Motolog provides motorcycle navigation, ride logging, analytics, optional cloud backup, and optional group riding features (live location sharing and voice intercom with other riders in a shared room). The app is a third-party software utility that communicates with supported Bluetooth motorcycle clusters by utilizing reverse-engineered communication protocols. Motolog does not provide, manufacture, or distribute any motorcycle clusters, hardware, or official accessories. Features may change, be added, or be removed as the product evolves.

Group riding features depend on mobile network connectivity and a Motolog-operated relay service. They are provided for rider coordination only and are not a substitute for emergency services, professional dispatch, or guaranteed safety monitoring.

2. Eligibility

You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction and must not be prohibited from using the service under applicable law. You are responsible for complying with local traffic laws and safe riding practices.

3. Safe use & disclaimer

Do not interact with the app while riding unless it is safe and legal to do so. Navigation and cluster displays are aids only. You remain solely responsible for operating your vehicle safely, obeying traffic laws, and verifying routes and directions.

Group voice and SOS features require your judgment. Do not rely on them as your only means of communication in an emergency. SOS alerts notify riders in your group room; they do not contact police, ambulance, or roadside assistance automatically.

Motolog is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

4. Bluetooth & device compatibility

Cluster connectivity depends on your phone, motorcycle hardware, firmware, permissions, and environmental conditions. We do not guarantee compatibility with every device, region, or firmware version. Unofficial modifications to cluster hardware or phone software may affect performance.

5. Your account & permissions

Certain features require Android permissions (location, Bluetooth, notifications, background activity, microphone for group voice, and optionally phone state). Optional Google Drive backup requires a Google account. You are responsible for credentials associated with your accounts and for room join links or QR codes you share with others.

6. Group riding

Group riding is optional. When you create or join a room, you control whether to share live location and whether to transmit voice. By joining a room and enabling these features, you direct us to share the corresponding data with other participants in that room through our relay service.

You agree that you will:

  • Only share room join credentials with people you intend to ride with
  • Not use live location or voice features to harass, stalk, or endanger others
  • Not trigger SOS except when you genuinely need help from your group
  • Comply with applicable telecom, privacy, and road-safety laws where you ride

We may suspend or limit group riding features for abuse, security risks, or operational reasons. Real-time location and voice may be delayed, dropped, or unavailable due to network, device, or server conditions.

7. Your content & data

You retain ownership of ride data you create. You grant us only the limited rights necessary to operate features you enable — for example, uploading backups you request to your own Google Drive App Data folder.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for unlawful purposes
  • Reverse engineer or misuse protocols except as permitted by law
  • Interfere with app security or infrastructure
  • Misrepresent your identity on the waitlist or support channels
  • Use the app in a manner that endangers yourself or others
  • Record, rebroadcast, or publish other riders' voice or location without their consent
  • Attempt to access group rooms you were not invited to

9. Third-party services

Motolog integrates with third-party services such as Google and Mapbox in the mobile app. This marketing website separately uses Vercel hosting and PostHog analytics — PostHog is not used inside the Android application. Group riding also uses Motolog-operated relay infrastructure for real-time location and voice. Your use of third-party services is subject to their terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party outages, policy changes, or data practices.

10. Intellectual property & third-party disclaimer

The Motolog name, branding, software, and website content are owned by Satrujit Behera or licensors. Royal Enfield, Hero, Tripper, and related marks belong to their respective owners. Motolog is an independent, unofficial project developed through reverse engineering of public BLE protocol frames. It is not affiliated with, authorized, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected to Royal Enfield, Hero MotoCorp, or any of their subsidiaries or affiliates.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Satrujit Behera shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of Motolog, including navigation errors, cluster disconnections, data loss, group location or voice failures, SOS non-delivery, or accidents.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) INR 5,000.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Satrujit Behera from claims arising out of your misuse of the service, violation of these Terms, or violation of applicable law.

13. Termination

You may stop using Motolog at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or discontinue features where necessary for security, legal, or operational reasons.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections in your jurisdiction.

15. Changes

We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
